Library FAQ

Yes. The library has Toddler Time each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10.30-11.00am, for children from birth to school-age. The sessions include stories, rhyme and a simple handicraft.

Children between 7-12 years can come along to Junior Brain Games on Wednesday afternoons from 3.30-4.30pm. They will enjoy a variety of brain-stimulating and imagination-inspiring activities that will boost their literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills. Just contact the library on 6740 2190 to book a place.
If your child needs practice with their reading, the library has Bookends Literacy Assist. Junior readers are paired with a senior in the community and will receive one-on-one feedback on their progress. The programme runs Tuesday and Thursday from 3.00-5.00pm and Friday 3.00-4.00pm.

The library welcomes suggestions of items to add to the collection. Ask them for a Purchase Request form, and fill it out with as much information possible about the item. It may take several weeks for the item to be ready to borrow, but it will be reserved for you and you will be notified.

 

Ask the staff to see if it is available through Inter-Library Loan. Another library may have a copy that they will loan to our library for you to borrow. It may take a few weeks and there could be a fee for the service. The more information you have about the item, the easier the process will be. Inter-Library Loan items cannot be renewed.

 

Ask the library staff to reserve it for you, or look it up yourself through the online catalogue and place a reservation.

Notify the library staff as soon as possible. They will advise you what to do. Don’t worry, it isn’t painful!

The library has an after-hours chute to the left of the door. Just hold the flap open and push your items through. They will be returned by the library staff the following working day.

Yes, fines accrued per item per day, but it is easy to avoid fines by to renewing your items before they become overdue. Just ring the library or jump online to renew your items through Member Services. Long overdue items or items reserved by another member cannot be renewed.

Yes. When you find an item on the catalogue you wish to borrow, click on the small box beside the title. You can select multiple items per page. Click on Add to Basket at the bottom of the page. When you have finished, click on View Basket. This will show you a list of the items you have added. You can select the items to reserve and click Reserve Selections, or Reserve All to reserve all the items in your basket. You will need to use your log-in details (Barcode number + date of birth) to finalise the reservations.

Yes. Just log in through Member Services on the Library catalogue to see the items you have out on loan, items you have requested and a list of items you have borrowed in the past. You can also extend your loans online, but not if other library members have reserved them. Click on Member Services on the catalogue page. Your library card number is the User ID: and your date of birth (ddmmyyy) is the password.

You can keep the items for three weeks. If you haven’t finished with them, you can extend them by ringing the library and asking for an extension, bringing the items with you and extending the loan over the counter or by logging into Member Services.
