If stock are roaming, unattended or have strayed onto the road or road reserve please contact Council on 02 6740 2100 to notify our ranger.
If, however, the stock have roamed onto private property, it is the landholder's responsibility to secure the animals as best they can to prevent further roaming.
If you find roaming stock on your land, please follow these steps:
- Secure the animal/s as best you can ensuring your own safety
- Notify the neighbours that stock have roamed onto your property
- You must allow the owners of the stock 48 hours to collect them from your property
- If you cannot locate the owners of the stock, or they are not collected within the specified timeframe, please contact Council to notify our ranger.
Cat Trap Hire Service
Important Information
- Council Compliance staff will only attend traps supplied by Council.These traps are approved, secure, and designed to ensure the safety of both animals and staff.
- Fees are charged in accordance with Council’s current Fees and Charges Schedule and may change in the next financial year.
How the Process Works

Contact Council
Residents report feral or roaming cats on their private property. -
Booking & Payment
Council will provide hire details and costs. To proceed, residents must supply their details and pay the required deposit and weekly hire fee. -
Trap Delivery & Setup
Compliance staff will deliver the trap and provide instructions on safe and effective use. -
When a Cat is Caught
The resident must contact Council. Compliance staff will then attend the property to safely remove the cat. -
Trap Return
The trap remains with the resident for the hire period and must be returned at the end of that period to ensure availability for others.
Hire Conditions
- Traps are hired for a maximum of one week at a time.
- Collection of trapped cats is available Monday to Friday only.
- No collections will occur on weekends or public holidays.
