Have we got it right?
Gunnedah Shire Council is developing its next Community Strategic Plan 2027-2037, which will set the community’s vision and strategic directions for the Shire over the next 10 years.
We are taking an evidence-based approach to developing the Plan, combining what our community tells us with local data, emerging needs and changing government requirements to help identify the priorities and actions that matter most for Gunnedah Shire’s future.
There are three stages where you can get involved and help shape the future of Gunnedah Shire over the next 10 years.

Stage 1: Liveability Survey ✓ Completed
Between 17 April and 31 May, 648 people across Gunnedah Shire participated in our Liveability Survey.
You told us:
- what matters most to you
- how your local area is performing
- your vision for Gunnedah Shire over the next 10 years
- your views across four key themes: Civic Leadership, Economy, Community and Place.
These findings have been provided to Council and explored further through workshops with Councillors and Council staff.
Stage 2: Help shape our Strategic Directions (we are here)
Using everything we heard in Stage 1, we have developed a draft community vision and strategic directions.
Before we start drafting the new Community Strategic Plan, we want to check back with you:
- Have we got it right? Is anything missing?
- Explore the draft directions and have your say
Use our interactive Community Input Form to explore what we heard and provide feedback on our Community Vision and the four key themes.
You can provide feedback on one, several or all five sections — it’s up to you.

Stage 3: Public Exhibition - coming in 2027
Your feedback will help us refine the strategic directions and develop the draft Community Strategic Plan 2027-2037.
The draft Plan will then be placed on formal public exhibition, giving the whole community another opportunity to review the Plan and provide feedback before it is finalised.
Public exhibition is expected in 2027. Please keep an eye on Council’s website and social media for updates and information on how to participate.
