Information for Voters:

Non-residential Rolls

If you are an owner, rate-paying lessee or occupier of rateable land which is not your primary residence, you or a nominee may be entitled to be enrolled on the roll of non-residential owners of rateable land or the roll of occupiers and rate-paying lessees for this election.

Details of the eligibility criteria for a claim and enrolment claim forms may be obtained from Gunnedah Shire Council office at 63 Elgin Street, Gunnedah (phone 02 6740 2100) (fax 02 6740 2119) (website www.gunnedah.nsw.gov.au) or will be forwarded upon request to council.

The claim must be completed and lodged with Gunnedah Shire Council on or before 6.00pm Monday, 1 August 2016.

If a claim for non-residential enrolment was made for a previous council election, and you wish to claim enrolment for this election you must re-apply.

Postal Votes

  • An elector may apply for a postal vote if he or she:
  • Will not be within his or her Council area or ward on Election Day;
  • Will not be within eight kilometres of any polling place within his or her Council area or ward on
    Election Day;
  • Will be travelling under conditions which will preclude him or her from voting on Election Day;
  • Is seriously ill or disabled and is unable to attend a polling place on Election Day;
  • Is prevented by approaching maternity from attending a polling place;
  • Is unable to vote in person on Election Day by reason of their membership of a religious order or their religious beliefs;
  • Is in a correctional centre;
  • Will be at a place other than a hospital caring for a person who requires care for medical reasons;
  • Will be working throughout the hours of polling; or
  • Is a silent elector
  • Is a person with a disability (within the meaning of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977), or
  • Believes that attending a polling place on Election Day will place the personal safety of the person or of members of the person’s family at risk

Pre-poll voting will be available at Returning Officer’s offices, Gunnedah Shire Council Training Centre, 63 Elgin Street, Gunnedah during business hours from Monday 29 August to Thursday 8 September and 8:30am to 6:00pm Friday 9 September 2016.

Sydney Town Hall

The Lower Town Hall at the Sydney Town Hall has been appointed as a polling place on Election Day and will issue ballot papers for all elections being conducted in all Council areas from 8:00am to 6:00pm.

Pre-poll voting for all Council areas will also be available in the Marconi Room at the Sydney Town Hall:

  • 8:00am to 6:00pm Monday 29 August to Wednesday 31 August 2016;
  • 8:00am – 8:00pm Thursday 1 September 2016;
  • 8:00am – 6:00pm Friday 2 September 2016; and
  • 9:00am – 4:00pm Saturday 3 September 2016.

And in the Lower Town Hall at the Sydney Town Hall:

  • 8:00am – 6:00pm Monday 5 September to Wednesday 7 September 2016;
  • 8:00am – 8:00pm Thursday 8 September 2016; and
  • 8:00am – 6:00pm Friday 9 September 2016.

Sydney Town Hall
