The major Water and Sewer projects for 2016/17 include:
Gunnedah Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade. With an estimated cost of $8.1M the upgrade includes a new inlet and screening structure, new de-watering structure, new amenities building, new digester, wet weather by-pass, safety improvements, electricity transformer upgrade, new water supply, security fencing and internal roadworks and landscaping. Work is expected to commence at the beginning of 2017 and be completed by approx. September/ October 2017
Gunnedah water main replacements with an estimated cost of $630K including Abbott St, Barber St, Railway Ave, Chandos St, Carroll St, Little Bloomfield St, Beulah St, Hamilton St, McDonaugh Pl, and O'Neill Rd
Upgrade of Council Telemetry and SCADA system with an estimated cost of $620K. The telemetry and SCADA system is a communication and data collection system controlling Councils water and sewer operations and will replace the current system installed in 1996 with modern technology.
Gunnedah sewerage network main relining program with an estimated cost of $292K will provide main relining, junction rehabilitation and maintenance hole improvements in various areas to improve environmental and health related infrastructure.
