Disability Inclusion Action Plan

In 2017 Council endorsed its 2017-2021 Gunnedah Shire Disability Inclusion Action Plan, articulating a clear set of priority actions aimed at enhancing access and participation for all over the next four years. The Plan was developed in consultation with over 340 internal and external stakeholders, and provided Council with an opportunity to assist residents and visitors of all abilities to actively engage with, and contribute to, the diverse fabric of the Shire. This Plan is now under review.
The current Plan can be viewed in a range of formats using the links below.

Why is Council reviewing the existing Disability Inclusion Action Plan?
Under the NSW Disability Inclusion Act 2014, all Councils are required to have a four (4) year plan in place to show what they will do to ensure that the services they provide are available to people with disability. About 1 in 5 people in our community have some form of disability and the likelihood of disability increases as we age. Our aim is make the Gunnedah Shire accessible and inclusive for everyone. Council’s current Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017 – 2021 ended on 30 June 2022, so we need a new plan to replace it.
