Community Care and Support

Youth Development Officer

The Role of the Youth Development Officer is to provide leadership, skills development and empowerment opportunities for 12-25 year olds in the Gunnedah Shire.

Having a sense of 'being connected' to people and places in meaningful ways is important to young people as they seek stability, balance and identity at a time of personal transformation and growth.

The Youth Development Officer aims to create places and programs that stimulate social interaction and creative expression, as well as provide recreational, sporting and leisure opportunities.

Initiatives that support this objective include the quarterly School Holiday Program, the Gunnedah Youth Council, annual celebration of National Youth Week and the development of a Youth pop-up shop.

For more information on any of the program on this page, please contact Sewa Emojong, Youth Development Officer, Gunnedah Shire Council on 02 6740 2275 sewaemojong@infogunnedah.com.au
